Match Review ACLTwo MD5 Group H | Selangor FC 1-2 Muangthong United FC | Unlucky Night At MBPJ Stadium


The fifth match of the 2024/25 Asian Champions League 2 (ACLTWO) competition yesterday ended with a 1-2 result between Selangor FC and Muangthong United FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya.

Overall, the match statistics saw Selangor FC had 51% of ball possession, with 25 attempts on goal and 4 corner kicks. Selangor FC scored the opening goal in the 5th minute, Quentin Cheng manage to score after the ball fell to him via a deflected shot from Yohandry Orozco. However, in the second half, Muangthong United FC managed to score two goals in the 53rd minute and 76 minutes before the final whistle.

According to Selangor FC Head Coach, Katsuhito Kinoshi, he apologized to the fans for not being able to get three points.

"In the first half, we were really prepared for that kind of game but in the second half we had a lot of chances and should have scored the second goal, unfortunately it did not happen. At least we have shown our style of play creating a lot of chances. However, I would like to apologise to the fans because we couldn't get the all important 3 points, we will try our best to get it in the next match and I believe the team are able to achieve this," he said.

Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC leads Group H with twelve points, followed by Muangthong United F.C. in second place with eight points, then Selangor FC with seven points and Dynamic Herb Cebu F.C. in fourth place with one point.

Selangor FC would also like to thank the 7,182 fans who attended the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya yesterday.
